Pizza of the month, May and June

There was no Pizza of the month in May.
I failed miserably.
But I will make it up for you.
Because this month you will have two, yes TWO pizza of the month.
Isn’t that great?
No?
OK, here they come anyway.

PIZZA 1, TOMATO SAUCE AND MOZZARELLA

For the first time since I committed myself to this Pizza of the month idea, I didn’t have to search for any suitable leftovers.
I was making tomato sauce for a pasta dish, and I had a package of mozzarella in the fridge that had past its expiry date.
So I saved half a cup of tomato sauce, sliced the mozzarella and spread everything on top of some sourdough pizza dough and baked it.
I added some fresh basil after baking, and voila.
A pizza Napolitano.
Now, any pizzaiolo, especially if she or he comes from Napoli, would probably call this pizza a %&$@!?¤ joke.

I won’t object.
But it tasted good, and it had a sourdough crust. How many genuine pizzas from Napoli has that?
HA!!

PIZZA 2, PIZZA WITH BACON

The second pizza was not that easy. As usual, I had to search my freezer for leftover crushed tomatoes, as there were not enough fresh tomatoes available.
I also found half a package of bacon that I fried slightly before adding it to the pizza.
There were not enough tomatoes to make pizza sauce, but I found two or three cherry tomatoes that could be used for topping, together with some mozzarella and other pieces of leftover cheese.

When I looked at the photos, I realized that Pizza 1 looks almost identical to Pizza 2. But I promise, There is some bacon hidden under the cheese on pizza 2.

I still have a lot to learn when it comes to baking pizza.
But a pizza is a pizza.
And most of the times it taste good, even if it’s not made by a professional.
A couple of days ago, my son asked if there perhaps would be a leftover pizza for dinner.
No, not today, I said.
Too bad, he said, disappointed.
That, together with the fact that I have saved some food from being wasted makes it well worth the effort.

      Det hade naturligtvis varit optimalt om jag kunde skriva på Svenska också, och det var faktiskt min tanke från början. Men Jag insåg ganska snart att tiden inte räcker till. Att skapa ett blogg post tar mycket mer tid än man kan tro. Med ett heltidsjobb, familj och ett hus att ta hand om så fick jag helt enkelt prioritera. Eftersom 85% av dom som besöker min blogg är engelsktalande så valde jag att skriva direkt på engelska.
      Men om det är något du undra eller inte förstår så tveka inte att skicka ett mail, så lovar jag göra mitt bästa för att hjälpa till.
